Invasive bounty proposal

Invasive bounty proposal

I read with interest your article in a recent WHT about the devastation the brown tree snake would cause if it were introduced to the Hawaiian Islands.

I suggest, instead of all these meetings on invasive species, why don’t we put a bounty on all invasive species like coqui, mongoose and red ants and include the brown tree snake just in case?

I am sure we could find a formula for compensation for example; $5 per mongoose, $1 per coqui and some method for fire ants. If successful it could be extended to other species and locations.

This would unleash the private sector and would certainly reduce the cost more than any other program.
